O’Connell celebrates 20 years

July 15, 2019

In 2019 O’Connell Workplace Relations celebrates 20 years of business, marking two decades of building strong relationships, professional growth and continued excellence in servicing our diverse range of valued clients.

Since the company’s conception in 1999, Managing Partner Graham Evans and his team of specialists have undertaken hundreds of workplace investigations for both public and private sector clients across Australia, as well as many successfully concluded mediations and other resolutions of disputes between employees.

The O’Connell Team would like to thank you, our loyal clients, for repeatedly reengaging us and your key role in our success.

In celebrating our achievements to date, we’re reflecting on the recent feedback received from our wonderful clients:

“O’Connell have demonstrated a detailed understanding of the Local Government universe, delivered the terms of reference and scopes of work in a timely and efficient manner with minimal imposition on Council operations.”
- Internal Ombudsman, a large Metropolitan City Council

“[We’ve] been engaging O'Connell Workplace Relations for the last eight years to conduct external independent investigations into conduct and performance issues involving staff, as well as allegations involving fraud and corruption. Over this time O'Connell have demonstrated the ability to assign highly skilled investigators to our matters who have effectively and efficiently carried out their tasks in full compliance with required NSW legislation and Council policies.”
- Manager Executive Support, a large Metropolitan City Council

“O’Connell maintain excellent lines of communication throughout their investigation and regularly provided updates … Their final report was comprehensive and compiled in accordance with the LHD’s instructions.”
- Corporate Manager, a Sydney Local Health District

How we got our current name:

O'Connell was initially located at 6–10 O’Connell Street, Sydney.

Over the years, we have circled a block in the northern side of the CBD, from one side of the corner of Hunter and Pitt, up to O’Connell Street, around the corner to Spring Street and back to the current opposite corner of Hunter and Pitt.
